Noro Polo Vest

I was surfing the net and ran across the new Rowan books that are coming out this fall.  I want them all!  Check it out at the knitting garden. I love 'bloom' from rowan 36, 'Coty' from Big just got bigger (I have to learn to crochet!!!!!), 'aimee' from Vintage Styles, 'Ava' and 'Jilly' from Ribbon twist collection.  I have to say Rowan is truly a sin.

Noro Polo Vest Posted by Hello

I started this yesterday afternoon, and it's coming along quite nice.  It's the NORO POLO VEST (Y-643), from Noro volume 13 (I think....).  The pattern is easy to work and is moving quite quickly.  I'm doing it in color 92 (sadly discontinued).  I'm about 50% done the first half.

Here is Ruby in her new dancing shoes.  First we had green (after the surgery....feet and eyes) and now we have pink!  They are already really dirty, but they look so cute!  She's doing really well, and doesn't really seem to mind the cone.

Presenting: Excite

ta-dah! Posted by Hello

Here she is, in all her glory - my first finished sweater.  I added an extra two strands of cotton tape in the dropped stitches for fear of it being a bit drafty, but the top still looks better with a thin tank top underneath.  Or at least I feel better about wearing it that way!

I LOVE my sophie!!!

sophie Posted by Hello

It's done! and I LOVE IT!  I've made two sophie before, but i just love this one.  I'm very please with how everything turned out.  I used Patons Classic Merion Wool, and lite lopi for the flower.  I didn't do the final decrease on row 50, and did an 8 stich i-cord that was 18 inches pre-felt.  I also added a magnetic snap, which looks excellent.  I'm so please with this, I want to make more....and this baby cost about $7 canadian ($4.50 USD), so it's a good deal!

Excite is done!

Photos to follow on Monday, but since I have a minute to post, I would like to toot my own horn by announcing that Excite is all finished, and was worn out on Friday night.  And looked good, too.  I can't believe I did it!  My friends were all pretty impressed by my craftiness, since the finished product looks nice.

Fleece artist poncho kit!!! Posted by Hello

I couldn't resist buying this.  It's a poncho kit from> fleece artist from Nova Scotia.  It is beautiful.  This particular yarn is the dreadlocks!!  I just love it.  It's knit on 12mm, so shouldn't take too long.

After you send i think $220 (canadian) at one my LYS, you get a 25% off coupon.  Two of my friends and I went down yesterday.  I got the poncho kit which worked out to $50 (again, canadian plus tax), a shawl kit for mommy, also by fleece artist, some alpaca to make a scarf and toque and a absolutely beautiful hank of sweateramaker which is hand spun, hand dyed from up-island, also to make a toque.  It is unbelievable.  This should keep me buy for a while.....

learning to walk! Posted by Hello

And these are the shoes I need to learn to walk in before Wedding #1 on August 16!

the wedding dress Posted by Hello

I am now going to 3 weddings this summer - all within the last 2 weeks of August.  A girl has got to look her best, so I bought a pretty new dress (and because of all of the massive sales in Toronto now, I got a sweet deal).  It's a halter dress, which means I've got to be working on losing the tan lines I've been sporting as a result of my recent athletic accomplishments (noted to the right in the photo).

blocking, blocking, blocking Posted by Hello

It was a block party at my place on Tuesday night, and a seaming party last night.  Excite is so close to being finished, I am soooo excited (pun not at all intended).  I tried it on last night after seaming, and the fit is a bit boxy - a little short, and a bit wide.  I still need to put the colors into the "racing stripes" and sew in a few more ends, and then I think I might reblock it to fix the length to something I like a little bit more.  Wooo!  I am going out to see Camera Obscura on Friday night, and am already planning on wearing this baby on the town.

The little details

This little rose, sure makes the hat!!  I just added it, even though I made the hat months ago, and its summer and I can't really wear it....But i think it looks great!  I also knitted a 5 petal flower for my new sophie, which is almost done.  Just have to finish the handles and then felt it!!

Knitting updates from Toronto

I have been busy, but have got a bit of knitting done.  No photos, sorry, but I'll try to remember to take a few tonight.
First update is for excite, which I am happy to report, is ready to be blocked.  I have finished both pieces.  I have sewn all the ends in.  I was getting ready to pin the pieces down to shape, when I got an invite to go out that I couldn't refuse.... so I am planning on blocking it out tonight.
Can I tell you all how scared I am?  I have never been so close to finishing a sweater before!  I am so worried that I'm going to screw up something in sewing it together, or knitting the neckband, or anything in between.  Even worse, I am so worried it is not going to fit!  Soon we'll see.
Next thing I've got on the go is sophie, from MagKnits.  Yes, all of Bronwyn's talk about felted purses made me want one.  I've just got a few rows of the bottom done; I'm using Brown Sheep Nature Spun, 100% worsted wool.  It's charcoal, so the purse will be plain, but I will be able to think up some way to make it a bit funkier once is it done.
Hopefully I will have further updates on both of these projects (and photos!) soon.

Coming up......

I've been knitting away, but things seem to be moving slow. I will be attempting the shoulder shaping AGAIN on Excite and hopefully this time things will work out. I didn't think it was a good idea to start another project, but I have. I've joined the Sophie along after seeing Georgia's Sophie!! . I just love it! I'm doing this one in black. One of the reasons for deciding to do another Sophie, was that it is brainless and I can do it on my lunch break at work.

After excite, I had dreams of Thrill or Carla from Rowan's It's a tape thing. This dream is going to have to wait. The truth is, I think they are too hard for me. But that's ok! Today I fell in love with Rowan's Pia from Rowan 35. The pictures off the Rowan site is nice, but once I saw Kat's (I love the color) and Jennifer's I was sure this was my next 'big' project.

Better get the current ones on the go, so I have time for these ones......

New look

Another change to the layout of the blog. It's got the sidebar to track what's going on 'on the needles', and I can easily add a few more similar things, such as a wish list, or unfinished object list...

Bronwyn, I'll email you info on how to update your own stuff. Also, it's possible to change a lot more of the colours, so we can do that later.

Excite is here!

From mom and dad Posted by Hello

Mom and Dad got my the yarn for excite (Rowan) (which Briana got from TO) and money for some uggs . I'll be ordering those once I move to PO (that's Portland Oregon) since they are WAY cheaper in the States!

It's a knitty B'day

Briana sent me this for my b'day and it is so great! The book is called Knit and is a way to keep track of your needles, favorite yarn shops, projects and more!! It's super great! She also sent me some wonderful blocking needles (clover) and two super cute beaded stitch markers! THANKS, BRIANA!!!
